Vanilla is one the most complex spices both in terms of flavour and cultivation techniques, which is the reason for its high price. This planifolia variety vanilla is grown by using organic farming techniques by our partner farmer co-operative in the Diana region of north eastern Madagascar.
Planifolia variety vanilla is otherwise known as bourbon vanilla (not due to its whiskey flavour) but rather its cultivation in Ile Bourbon, nowadays La Reunion, where vanilla plantations were prominent many years ago.
Of the many different grade of beans available, ours are Gourmet Grade which means a high level of vanillin content contributing to the rich sweet & creamy flavour we know and love in vanilla.

A favourite of mine is Creme Brûlée. Using this H&V ‘Gourmet Grade’ Vanilla Bean it certainly gives it a rich creamy and delightfully smooth taste .....making it an all time hit!
Have been making vanilla iced cream for years and just switched to H and B’s beans after a recommendation. Really good quality just like their other blends I’ve tasted.
